Inauguration of Prayer Ministry in the Province Mary Help of Christians, Kolkata


DUM DUM:As the FMA INDIA,edge forward with great enthusiasm to celebrate thecentennial of the FMA presence in India, the Province of FMA INC set to erect a new milestone with the commencement of a new ministry in the Province. On 29 August 2022, is intertwined with the golden thread in the heart of seven elderly sisters Sr. Philomena Chirammal, Sr. Susanna Korah, Sr. SilvinaKujur, Sr. Elizabeth Makil, Sr. Mary Sarkar, Sr. Anna Varkey and Sr. Juliana Rozariowho molded a power groupin the Province heeding to the invitation of Sr. Paul “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. (1 Thess. 5:16-18)
The inauguration ofthe ‘Prayer Ministry’ was held at Auxilium, Provincial house, Dum Dum with an introductory talk by Provincial Sr. LeelammaPalliparambil, driving home the purpose and motivation of the new venture and whose dream was realized today. This was followed by a warm and solemn welcome ceremony and a moment of prayer.
The animation of the day was then taken upby the resource person of the day Rev. Fr. Ramesh Cherian SDB. He commenced the session saluting the seven pioneers of the ‘Prayer Ministry’ for their experience and the beautiful life they lived for God, young people and for others, also bringing home the memory some great Salesians who paved way in his life. During the homily Fr. Ramesh exhorted the sisters to be bread broken for the sisters of the community and in the Province by raising them in the chalice all that they undergo in their body mind and soul. The day’s schedule drew to a close by drawing up a few line of action to be powerful intercessors in the community and in the Province.
It is wonderful to hear from Sr. Mary Sarkar, one of the members of the prayer ministry, “I renewed myself and received a lot of insight to be like Anna and Simon in the Bible and also to make every action into prayer.” This is what Sr. Elizabeth Makil had to say at the end of the day, ‘I realized that prayer is not a difficult task because it is a continuity of all that I do in the company of Lord Jesus”. Sr. Juliana Rozario expressed her feelings by saying, “We are indeed blessed and happy that God has chosen us to be part of a Prayer Ministry group. It is a great realization that every struggle, suffering, pain and aspirations of us in offering to Jesus will turn into prayers that will rise to Heaven.” Sr. MinimolChettayil
